Fostering

When a family opens their home to a foster animal it gives the animal a new look on life and opens a door for them to grow and become confident within themselves, their surroundings and people.  Fostering is simple, all you need is an open heart to provide love for the animal, open mind to help them transition, appropriate place to let them adjust in, time to spend with them, and sometime a little extra care and understanding.  In return you get the satisfaction of seeing the animal come out of their shell and bloom into their wonderful personality as well as helping save the animal by allowing the shelter to take on another animal.

One concern we hear a lot is people think they can't foster because they would grow too attached to the animal before placement.  While this is true in some cases, the gratification in helping an animal find their forever home and being able to help multiple in a life time is a much greater love than the fear of not trying at all.

For more information about becoming a foster home, please fill out a Foster Application and then email our Foster Home Coordinator. Or of our volunteers will contact you to discuss the fostering process.

Volunteer for FOA

FOA needs volunteers!  A large part of our organization is based on volunteers. There are many ways to help, from making phone calls, cleaning, transporting animals, screening new foster and adoptive homes, writing articles for Facebook and/or our website, helping with special events, fundraising, walking dogs, grooming animals, etc. We'd love your help in any way you can give it, small or big everything makes a huge difference for the animals we get to help everyday!

For more information on volunteering for FOA, please fill out a Volunteer Form and contact our Volunteer Coordinator.
